Effective Relief From Carpal/Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This condition causes painful compression of a nerve in the wrist. It can interfere with your ability to use that wrist and hand. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a progressive condition that can worsen without proper treatment. Dr. Hayward performs carpal tunnel surgery when the median nerve is compressed and causing numbness in the first three fingers of the hand. He has perfected a technique that allows him to use a tiny incision to relieve the compression on that nerve and eliminate the pain. Other surgeons make incisions that are two to three times larger.

Carpal Tunnel Release

Carpal Tunnel Surgery is performed when the medial nerve is being compressed causing numbness in the first three digits of the hand. Dr. Hayward performs carpal tunnel release surgery with a tiny incision as seen below to relieve that nerve.

Other surgeons make may incision 2-3X larger than this to release the nerve.

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

This is a compression injury to the ulnar nerve near the elbow. This nerve produces a jolt when you hit your “funny bone.” Your symptoms may include:

  • Numbness, tingling in little finger & half of ring finger
  • Falling-asleep sensation in these fingers, especially when elbow is bent
  • Weakened grip strength in these fingers

Dr. Hayward can correct this condition using ulnar or cubital tunnel release. He performs this procedure to release impingement of the ulnar nerve. This nerve runs under the funny bone. The ulnar nerve provides sensation to the little finger and half of the ring finger.

Ulnar Or Cubital Tunnel Release

Cubital Tunnel Surgery is performed to release an impingement of the ulnar nerve. This nerve runs under a bump of bone usually referred to as the funny bone. The ulnar nerve gives sensation to the little finger and half of the ring finger.

Symptoms may include:

  • Numbness and Tingling in little finger and half of ring finger
  • Falling asleep sensation in these fingers especially when elbow is bent
  • Weakening grip or strength in these fingers

What people say about us?

I had a spinal decompression done at three levels. Although all pain is not gone, the surgery did exactly what Dr. Hayward had hoped it would. What impressed me most about Dr. Hayward was his willingness to have me get a second opinion. He did not want me going into surgery without hearing what someone else thought. He even went as far to tell me that just because he was the first neurosurgeon that I had seen, he expected me go where I felt most comfortable if I did have surgery.
